The puma was here before we spread across the land. When it dies, we will be less. ( I think that I saw one when I was about seven years old and on Alligator Alley in the Everglades.) Its extinction is like the spread of invasive plants brought here with wisdom or error or accident. Unintended results. Nobody knows what happens when we end a species. Including us.
