You need to make sure you establish yourself (and your family) as pack leaders and that the new dog knows its place in the pack and the boundaries (which you set) Any size/age dogscan live together peacefully as long as the humans maintain discipline and control...the new dog needs to know what you consider acceptable behavior and since border collies (and youth) have boundless energy make sure the BC gets lots of exercise to drain all that energy-check out Cesar Milan The Dog Whisperer books, DVD's and website, he helped put me in charge of my 100lb.
