Well, it will get warm. Consider having its fur trimmed down regularly.
Alaskan Malamutes make better companions than Huskies however, they are are a lot heavier and a lot more dog to handle than Siberian Huskies. So do your research before considering adopting one of these dog breeds. Neither dog makes a "better" companion. Each, like every other dog breed, has characteristics that make it an ideal companion for certain types of people.
These dogs are both cold weather dogs. If you live in one of the warmer areas of OK, you may want to consider another breed entirely. They are both good dogs for the country. The Alaskan Malamute is generally an outdoor working dog. He needs exercise and a strong sense of purpose. The Berner can also be a working dog, but he is happy whenever he is with you. He likes a lot of rambling walks in the woods, up and down the mountains, by the streams. Although Berners are generally not terribly fond of water, they will wade in on a hot day and take a drink.
If you mean sled dog breeds?Traditional sled dog breeds include the Siberian Husky, the Alaskan Malamute, the Chinook, the Sakhalin Husky, the Canadian Eskimo dog, the Seppala Siberian sled dog, the Tamaskan husky, the Samoyed, the Eurohound, the Mackenzie River husky, and the Greenland dog. While these dogs are bred for the purpose of pulling a sled, many other breeds have been used, including mixed breeds. These days, that tradition lives on in sled dog racing, where the most popular breeds include the Alaskan Husky, and various cross breeds, often based on the German Shorthaired Pointer. However, many breeds have been used, including the poodle!Alaskan huskies are favored in modern sled dog races because they are faster than traditional breeds like the Alaskan malamute or the Samoyed. They are not as strong, but in sled dog racing where speed is important, and the distances are shorter, Alaskan huskies were found to perform better. Alaskan husky dogs are not a recognized breed. They are bred for their performance, and so they cannot be easily characterized as a breed. Alaskan husky dogs represent a variety of types with different lines. They are hybrid dogs - a husky with another breed, that is determined by the needs and ideas of the breeders. A husky may be bred with a wolf, setters, or any other breed that can bring genetic advantages in speed and endurance.
There are no significant differences between Alaskan malamutes and Siberian huskies. However they have slightly different shaped heads and huskies have blue eyes and malamutes have brown eyes. They are bred for exactly the same thing. They are both high energy dogs that are completely nuts but very lovable.... for the right owner. There are major differences between the two breeds. Siberians can have brown, blue, one brown and one blue, or brown-and-blue eyes. Malamutes and Siberians are not bred for "exactly the same thing" at all. Please visit akc.org and search the two breeds for complete information on each.
The alaskan malamute is a little bit wider and more furry than a siberian husky, but a siberian husky is a little bit thinner and have sharper ears. An alaskan malamute has more strength and better skills in pulling sleds than a siberian husky. A siberian husky has blue eyes is faster than an alaskan malamute, while an alaskan malamute has a thicker head and small brown eyes. Siberian huskies have sharper teeth than alaskan malamutes, which have bigger jaws.
one dog may be better then another dog by being friendlier, having a better build, coming from better bloodlines, having more experience in a field of training, better training in general, etc... It also depends on what your gonna use the dog for if you want a guard dog a German sheperd or a doberman pinscher or a pitbull would be better than say a great dane or wolfhound because there more aggresive while the dane and wolfhound are just very large which makes them good for things that the sheperd or the dobey or pit wouldn't be good at such as herding or show
there are two main types of huskies, the Malamute (pronounced mal-a-moo) and the Siberian husky. The Malamute is much larger, males can weigh anywhere from 50- 100 kgs. Siberians are much smaller, still tall but weigh far less, a male can weigh about 25kgs. Siberians were bred by using malamutes and wolves (I believe). They were bred because they are faster and lighter then Malamutes and need less food, so for pulling sleds they are better, they still have huge amounts of endurance, but not quite as much a malamute. Often for pulling sleds Malamutes will be used near the back, right in front of the sled driver, as they can handle the weight better, and the Siberians will form the rest of the pack. There are also two other kinds of huskies. The Alaskan Husky, as well as the Mackenzie River Husky.
A small dog (chihuhua Frence poodoles etc;) has a better chance to live longer than a big dog (German sheperd Rotwiler K9 etc;) Why? I dont really no Its just Mother Nature
