Once all Chewing Gum was made from chicle. That's the sap of the sapodilla tree, which grows in rainforest in Central America. Men called "chicleros" climb up the tall trees, and with their machetes, cut criss-crosses in the trunks so that the sticky sap flowed out. Then the chicle was processed and turned into gum.

I'm pretty sure the answer is NO! Whaling is illegal in most places (at least that's what I heard) and they are only allowed to use whale blubber for coats and stuff. Just imagining them putting a chunk of whale blubber in gum is degrading to the gum franchise.

The gum is made from either, chicle, a natural latex product, or synthetic rubber known as polyisobutylene. Usually the latter.
