YES Maltese are AMAZING for people with Allergies. I have severe pet allergies and have a maltese--that causes no allergic reactions at all. Maltese are good for those with allergies for two reasons (1) they have hair rather than fur (2) they have no undercoat

that most dogs have (which causes them to shed and release dander). If you have allergies a Maltese would be a perfect choice (a poodle, bichon, labradoodle, portuguese water dog, and yorkie are some others)

NO. I have a Malinois and it sheds like crazy! You have to groom him at least twice every week, more often in Spring and Summer. They have short coat and sheds 365. I am not sure if allergy sufferer would be pleased with the shedding. But Malinois is super loyal dog, very smart and active--mine sleeps when we are not with her and plays so hard when she is out. But if you can find a Poodle X Malinois, you would be happy. I am actually looking for one myself but this hybrid is hard to find! Maybe you can also consider Malinois's sibling--Lakenois. They are the same breed but with curly coat--minimal shedding, only regular grooming and trimming are needed. If you find either a Lakenois or Malinois X Poodle, please let us know. But there is shepadoodle out there though I am not quite interested in this xbreed.
