What breeds make up a bandog?

The Bandog is NOT a new breed; he predates most modern breeds and is mentioned in various texts throughout history. A Bandog is NOT necessarily Pit Bull/Neapolitan Mastiff, or other crosses cross either; Bandogs were around long before these breeds were even thought of and long prior to the discovery of the Americas.

In fact it is widely thought many more modern breeds (such as APB) were made up by Bandog X breeding.

A Bandog is simply a purpose bred working type derived from Mastiff and Bull breed crosses. He may be a first cross from pure parents or many generations of Bandog to Bandog breeding.

The Bandog was derived from the Middle Ages in Europe, writings from the fourteenth century tell of the canis Molossus (mastiff) and the Aluant or Canis Anglicus (bulldog).

So any modern cross breeding is trying to emulate the same. It must be noted that the middle ages bull-dog was nothing like the present English (toad like) bulldog, although he still retains the courage of his ancestors.
