They suffered a lot of pain and acted as slaves most of the time. They had NO money and could not afford any good clothes. Peasants were treated poorly and didn't have enough to eat. It was very hard and sad.

If you mean the Peasants Revolt of 1381, that would be Richard II. He was only a boy at the time.
The role was the same for all peasants thru out time: provide the labor for the rulers (the rich) to make money. It happened to the English peasants, the Russian peasants, and the French peasants (in France)...and it happened in Vietnam (French Indochina). Peasants provide the labor force; the Colonial ruler provides the funding, organization, and the product.

If you mean uneducated then yes, as were most people of the time, not just the peasants. As is the case now. They were, however just as intelligent as people today
