Sugar gliders are omnivores.

In their native environment, sugar gliders feed on tree sap, nectar, some fruits and a variety of small insects such as mealworms, beetles, crickets, grasshoppers, lerps and moths. They prefer sap and resin from trees such as eucalyptus (gum trees) and acacia (wattle).

I have two male sugar gliders. I researched on the internet quite a bit to get a proper diet for them.

I use this daily:

3 fresh veggies (Chopped very small)

3 fresh fruit (Chopped very small)

Sprinkling of crushed monkey biscuits

1 teaspoon of Leadbeaters mix:

The Leadbeaters mix is a frozen mixture of:

1/2 cup Apple juice

1/2 cup honey

3/4 cup hi-protein baby cerial

1/4 cup wheat germ

1/4 cup sweet potatoe - grated

1/4 cup carrots - grated

1 hard boiled egg w/ shell

1/2 teaspoon Rep-Cal reptile vitamins

1 turkey&sweet potato baby food / 2 1/2 ounce jar

5-10 small meal worms

Good quality sugar glider kibble is recommended and is found at local pet stores. Also, grazing should be available all day for protein. Insects including crickets and mealworms are good supplements for your sugar gliders diet. Other good supplements are: grapes, boiled eggs, baby food, corn, melon, yoghurt, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples and very small pieces of chicken preferred to be blended. A special treat for your sugar glider is a nectar specially made for them. Found in the reptile section of a pet store, calcium supplements should be provided to your sugar glider to prevent vitamin deficiencies. Putting vitamins into your crickets and mealworms is a good way to make sure they get into your glider.
