It depends. If its only once, try watching and waiting. If it's more than once, take your cat to the vet ASAP. Cats can get dehydrated quickly, and they are VERY GOOD at hiding when they don't feel well.
Cats also sometimes throw up because a hairball is stuck and will not come up. Try to prevent hairballs and brush them every day.

∙ 12y agoCats do sometimes throw up by choice, if they have an upset stomach or have eaten something bad they need to get it out of their system.
If the cat stops and doesn't continue and there is no sign of other illness, the cat should be fine. If it doesn't stop, continues, or shows other signs of illness, contact or take the cat to a vet.
