Start by picking up your dogs paw and then tell him/her to shake. This way they will understand what it means. It will take some time for your dog to learn shake, but when you think your dog knows shake try to see if he will shake on his own. Reward him with dog treats is he gets it right.
Crating is a popular and easy way to help house train a young puppy. Dogs don't like to soil their bed. By crating a puppy, the puppy is encouraged to learn to control its bladder. Puppy crates are available at most pet stores including Best Friends Pet Supplies in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The best way to train a puppy to stay within the boundaries of its designated area is to use positive reinforcement techniques, such as treats and praise, when the puppy stays within the boundaries. Consistent training and supervision are key to teaching the puppy to understand and respect the boundaries.
You can train your puppy like any other dog, but since it is a puppy and they like to have fun, try makeing training a game!(also try to train them at a young age, that way they have a better chance of being a good dog in the years to come).
You can buy pee pads (sold at your local pet shop), and on weekends you can potty train it!
"Shaking" tends to be a dogs way of asking "Please" or getting your attention.
