The "American" variety of guinea pigs is probably the best for beginners since they have short coats which can be easily cleaned and their laid-back temperment makes them unlikely to bite. Truthfully though, pretty much all guinea pigs can be kept by beginners without any trouble (except maybe the Textel whose curly hair frequently matts if not brushed often enough) so get the variety of guinea pig your most attracted to. Odds are that if you especially like the way your cavy looks and/or acts you'll be more likely to take better care of it than one you only kind of like.
I recommend you buy a short haired one because you don't have to cut the hair or brush it. In the pet shop ask the pet shop guy if you can hold the guinea pig to see if it's shy. If it is DON'T buy it. My first guinea pig was very shy and I was never able to tame her no matter what I tried. Good Luck!
The best way to help a pregnant guinea pig is to let her be herself and let her have lots of time with the daddy/boyfriend, and keep her out of trouble.
A guinea pig because they are fatter and cuttier
Well it would probably be best if you got a guinea pig from a breeder or a petstore
i recomend that you don't
The best guinea pig to keep as a pet is either the American or the abyssinian. Although if you have the time and patience to groom your guinea pig every night the peruvian, silkie, texel or coronet may be the perfect breed for you. If you have a busy lifestyle and won't get much time to be with your guinea pig, then the best guinea pig for you would be the American breed. They cope well with being alone, but they love listerning to music! So keep that radio on! Although I highly recommend the Abyssinian guinea pig as they are very intelegent and love company or just to cuddle up with you on the couch!
Your male guinea pig is trying to mate with your female guinea pig.
MAke a maze out of cardboard and have your guinea pig run through it.
If you're looking for a guinea pig that doesn't shed, a Skinny Pig would be your best bet. They are hairless guinea pigs.
Any guinea pig shampoo should be fine for your guinea pig but you might want to ask your vet, an employee at a pet store, or friends with guinea pigs.

No, it is not safe or recommended to pierce a guinea pig's ears. This can cause pain, discomfort, and potential infection for the animal. It is always best to keep your guinea pig's well-being and health as a top priority.
