There is no "best" breed of dog. Everyone has their own favorite breed(s). Some people may like big dogs, such as a Labrador retriever or a German shepherd. Some may enjoy a small, playful dog such as a Boston terrier or a beagle. Some might want a dog that would go well with an older person, such as a lazy basset hound or a schnauzer. Personally, my favorite breeds of dogs are all large, and include Labradors, German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, Chows, Greyhounds, English Mastiffs, Golden Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, and Australian Shepherds.

If you ask me, the best kind of dog to have is a cavapoo- cavalier king Charles spaniel and poodle mixed. I have one and she is the best! Of course, when you are looking at a mixed breed, though, there are highs and lows. First of all, mixed breeds are much healthier than pure breds. However, all the bad things in both parents could come out in the puppy, so you don't really have a garentee as to what the dog will be like. But, with this mix, the poodle is hypoallergenic, and the spaniel is supposed to be the best family dog. However, bost breeds cannot be let alone too long because they are very family orientated.

My dog doesn't like water, is hypoallergenic, and generally easy-going. She also loves anyone and everyone!

The best dogs for breeding or just having a litter are smaller dogs for a start. One because smaller dogs mutare earlier and therefor are more safe when having pups. Terriers are best out of all small dogs, dogs with flat noses dont cope too well in births, they struggle because they will become out of breath easily and find it harder to breath, then they struggle to clean up or remove the membrain from the pup, of corse these dogs can have babies but you may want to make sure you have everything you need in case you need to help or theres an emergancy, do your homework! Small dogs such as Chihuahua's and Papilons are usally fine in whelping but may also require some help in some cases, make sure that the mate of the Chihuahua/small dog is the same breed or smaller then then her otherwise it is common for the puppies to be too big and become trapped in the birth cannal which can lead to the mother dieing or futher promlems in the pup later on in his life or the mother will simply die during birth. Terriers such as Jack Russell Terriers, Border Terriers and spaniels are very adapted to coping well in births and there are usally no complications, still, do your homework, get everything you need ready which is more then you might think and always be ready to help your dog in a birth no matter what the breed. The minimum age for a SMALL dog to whelp(have pups) is 2 years(this is the safe age, although some small dogs get away with having puppies at 1-1 1/2 years of age) and 3 for bigger dogs because they muture later, some bigger dogs still not having their first season till 2 years. (dont class your dog as a 'small' dog if it is any bigger then a springer spaniel) the oldest any breed of dog can have pups is about 6 years altough many dogs can manage to push it to 7 (I no a clumber spaniel to gave birth to 5 healthy pups at 7 years of age) It is best to wait till the dog has had at least 2 seasons/heats beofore breeding her. Leave a 5 month gap (minimum) to make sure your dog is in execlent condition before breeding ie: Not overweight, hansnt got flees(deflee and deworm halfway through dams pregnacy) up to date with her shots (ask your vetarian when to get your dogs shots done, different vets say different things, some will say during pregnancy, some will say before)

Depends on who you are.

How much excersize can you give the dog?

Are you able to deal with a lot of stress?

Does your housing have any regulations on dogs?

Do you live in a place of extreme climates?

Do you plan on entering the dog in anycompetitions or sport?

How well do you know dogs?

How muchexperiencedo you have handling dogs?

Are you willing to part ways with money in the case of vet bills, dental care, food, toys, grooming equipment, and a possible dog trainer?

How big is your home and backyard?

Let's say you live in a southern part of Texas, in an apartment with no yard, and you have a job that requires you to work a lot of hours. A husky would be a nightmare for you! However, because you wont be home often, little dogs with smaller bladders like the chihuahua will also be poor choices. You might consider a blood hound or a grey hound, that is, if the dog is always on a leash when you're not home.

But if you don't have a job that requires you to work so often, you can go ahead and consider that chihuahua.

However, if you live in Alaska, with the same housing conditions, short haired breeds and small breeds like the dachshund and boxer, while doable, will suffer during the colder winter months and frostbite is a common problem.

If you live in a larger home with a bigger back yard, you may consider a husky ... of course, you'll also need a LOT of time to walk a husky.

For me, I run a buisness out of my home and am attending an onlinecollege. I have a lot of time to spare for my dogs, and I can wisk them outside whenever they need to go. I also live in a colder climate but I have a two story house and an acre of fenced in yard. Plus, I train and compete my dogs in frisbee, so the perfect dog for me is an energetic one that likes to retrieve, is friendly with people, doesn't get nervous around noise, and is perferably smarter then average. Staffordshires, Labs, and collies are my favorites. Huskies would be good, if I wasn't big on frisbee. Sure, they like the chase things, but getting a husky to bring something back is a challenge.
