I think pull the rope back.
A noseband or martingale should not be used to substitue training. You need to train the horse to be collected. Light pressure pulling back while tapping your legs against the horses sides is the cue I use. By pulling back, I look for the horse to bend at the poll, which will make him round up, and by tapping my legs on him, I am saying, keep going.
Eventually, you can just tap your legs on his side to get him to collect.

Most likely, the horse has colic. The best thing you can do is call your vet as all types of colic present roughly the same and can be fatal if you don't get a professional opinion.
The best thing you can do for a horse with strangles is give him "bute" to relieve the fever, and take down the inflammation in the airway and throat so your horse will continue eating. If your horse has an abcessed lymph node it needs to be lanced by a vet; if it hasn't formed an abcess yet, it needs a series of penicillin preferably. For more information go to horseadvice.com
It depends how bad and it depends on how much you love the horse It may be hard, but if the horse cannot walk, and seems in pain, the mature and honest thing to do would be to put him/her down. but if she/he is famous and worth alot, try your best (unless its in the worst pain imaginable.) That's all i can advise. consult your vet for more advice though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What did your vet say? Please tell us you called a vet. That should have been the first thing to do other than post a question here.
The collected canter feels similar to the regular working canter except the movement is more powerful and more contained. You can feel the horse's hindquarters working harder underneath you and the movement is more up-and-down than forward-and-back.
If you mean like an dusting brush sort of thing it is the bushy side of course. that's where all the dust and dirty things get collected to

The best thing to do is not to run down the hill or mountain to the bottom if you see it coming. You must go into a house or an underground seller.
This depends on how you wish to euthanize the horse. If you want the horse put down by lethal injection, then only a veterinarian is allowed to do this. If you wish to use a bolt gun or rifle then you can do this or have a knowledgeable person do it for you. However it is best to have a vet present if nobody has attempted to put a horse down this way before, as should you miss, the horse will be in great pain.
A run down horse is a horse that is either poorly cared for, resulting in a ill, scruffy looking, stubborn horse or a worn out horse. Hope this helps!
