To grip - cats' claws are retractable so they come out to climb trees etc and they are sharp enough to go into wood.

Both use them for holding food, dogs use them to grip on soft ground.

What if my dog has a cat claw stuck in them for months?

Is a cat claw bone?

A cat's claws are made out of the same material that human fingernails are made out of: Keratin. A cat's nails are constantly growing like a human's or a dog's, but grow in layers instead of length. Newly grown claws are covered by a protective outer layer that the cat removes by "sharpening" his claws. However, a cat's claw is firmly attached to first toe bone. This ensures that the claws cannot be pulled out during hunting, fighting or climbing. Tendons and special joints are what enable a cat's claws to retract and flex.

Dog has bit or scratch from cat on it's leg--limping also should anything be done?

If the cat is healthy (check its teeth and claws to see if clean), it would be okay. But since it's limping, you should get it checked out cause cats claws can cause infection with can make your dog very sick and could give it worms (depends on the health of the cat). This is an answer from a girl who loves cats.
