Perhaps 'sea lion' was what this query referred to. In that case, sea lions communicate using a variety of noises. Commonly, people think of the sound a sea lion makes as a bark, just as one would refer to the sound a dog makes. The onomatopoeia for this would appear as, 'Ark'. Sea lions not only bark, but cry, bellow, Trumpet and roar. Mother sea lions can identify her young solely based upon the indivuduality of it's cry amongst thousands of others. In popular culture, the fictional character Aquaman has a sea lion sidekick named appropriately "Ark".
