If your dog(or any pet for that matter) has been playing with a dead squirrel, it can pick up diseases such as Bubonic Plague(known as the Black Death in medieval times). Even worse, the dog can spread the disease around, infecting any creatures vulnerable to the disease. You may not know if your pet has been playing with a dead animal, so wash your dog frequently!
This incident happened when a monkey ate a dead squirrel and contacted the bubonic plague.
This is a dumb question. DOGS CANT GET SALMONELLA POISONING! But if your dog eats raw chicken wash of his/her paws and mouth after or YOU could get salmonella poisoning! Also if your dog eats a squirrel you are on trouble take him/her to the vet immediately because you don't know if that squirrel had rabies. -Extreamea
