First of all, lawlessness and crime would be astronomical... (one only needs to look back to the aftermath following Katrina in New Orleans). This time however, the police would be even more ineffective- gasoline would instantly become at best extremely scare and at worst virtually non-existent- leaving the economy, local government, and most importantly the individual without any means to move around. The effects of this would cause all of the so called "necessities of life" (electricity, phone, etc.) to immediately go out of commission- causing even more panic and chaos. Undoubtedly those in the rural areas of our nation would be best off, simply due to the fact that they would be further removed from the initial chaos and would undoubtedly be able to make to do for a while at first. Those in the more urban areas of our country would also see this advantage and seemingly overnight make a pilgrimage to the country- causing local communities to band together to protect their homes and properties from squaters and thieves. It is extremely difficult to predict just what exactly would be the result of the American political system falling apart... unfortunately eventually this will no longer be a question for the imagination but rather will be experienced. I say this, not because I hate America, I in fact love America greatly- but rather because the long hallway of history is merely a revolving door of repeating stories, first the Greeks, then the Romans, and sadly us... May we enjoy the gifts we have as a people today, but constantly be reminded that they are not guaranteed for tomorrow. Umm... my mom says that The Bible says that we'd go back to horses someday i think shes right. i mean the eco system is bound to fall apart some time and unless we build some thing to replace gasoline than were dead.
