When a female dog is fixed does her behavior change?

No she will no longer have heat cycles. The Veterinarian removes all of the reproductive organs so she can no longer come into heat. This makes for a healthier dog and hopefully longer lived one. Spaying or neutering your pet cuts down on the risks for cancer such as mammary cancer, prostate cancer, uterine infections, perianal tumors, etc.

There is a small chance you might experience small behavioral changes such as a lessened will to roam, but in most cases, the dog's personality will not change at all. Spaying and neutering is not a miracle solution to make an active poorly-trained dog suddenly obedient. All it does is prevent them from going into heat and reproducing. Some dogs will even still try to mate after the procedure is done!

Because the dog has to be put under during the operation, they may experiance fatique and a lack of appetite for 1-2 days immediately after surgery. If your dog is still acting groggy and not eating more then three days, you need to have the vet examine your dog.
