Rabbits' nests are generally well hidden and can turn up anywhere. The most common places are near bushes, trees, and tall grass. A rabbit's nest can be identified by its common construction of grass and fur. Tall grass is tightly woven into clumps of the mother's fur, providing insulation and camouflage.

Wild baby rabbits are found in warrens, or dens; holes in the ground. Sometimes, if you have chives or hens and chicken flowers growing in your yard, the rabbit will dig holes under those and give birth under there.

The father rabbit usually doesn't stick around with his mate and kits (baby bunnies). The kits open their eyes and ears at about two or three days. The mother rabbit is usually gone for the whole day, and the kits are left on their own. But they won't go far from their nice warm-in the winter or cool-in-the-summer den.
