To own foxes in any state, you must first get a special licence.

This is not necessarily true; in the state of Virginia it is perfectly legal to own a silver fox or cross fox without a license or permit. To actually be sure if it is allowed in your area you should contact your local fish and game department.

Yes you can. The most popular pet fox is the Fennec Fox, due to their small size, cat-like nature, and relatively mild smell. Red Fox (and variations thereof) are also kept as pets. Less commonly you may find the Arctic, Grey, Bat-Earred, and Swift.

yes, however, only in certain states, i do NOT suggest getting one, however. Many foxes and other wild animals have to be rescued each year because people cannot take care of them or ditch them after realizing they are too much trouble.

It very VERY rarely works out even if you hand raise a fox from a kit. But there are a few circumstances where it has worked very wonderfully. Usually, the fox is left in a cage or in a small yard on a chain. They need LOTS of space and love to bite and chew things.

If you want a fox, you need to check up on laws in your state and county. Most will require that you get an Exotic Pet License (EPL), and then you must find either a fox breeder or some other way to get one. Needless to say, it is not easy.

Your best bet is to go to find a breeder online and discuss with them about getting a cub. Please remember, though, to do research before purchasing a pet fox. They have a high up-keep, much higher than that of a dog or cat. ALWAYS remember that a fox is not a dog, it is a fox. They will behave like a fox, and you must be ready to care for it.

There are breeders all around the US that sell all different species of domesticated fox. Do some research online to find one, but first, make sure that owning this exotic pet is legal in your state and area.

And after making sure it's legal, PLEASE PLEASE do your homework. Make sure that a fox is the right pet for you. They are a lot of work, and have a much higher up-keep than any dog or cat.
