Labrador retrievers are a `breed' of dog, in that it was cross bred with another type of dog to attain special characteristics. If you do a websearch for `labrador retriever' on the internet, you'll be amazed at the info you can find. My last dog was a Labrador, as was the one before him and perosnally, I wouldn't have any other breed. They're absolutely lovely (and yeah, that IS a biased opinion). One of their interesting characteristics, and a reason they're such great swimmers, is that Labradors have webbed feet. YES THEY DO EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A labrador is one of the most common Dog Breeds of the united states. Theri are 3 basic colors of a lab, yellow( a creamy color to a lite tan not yet brown but has a c\shade of cream) black( a charcole or even midnight black) and last chocolate( brown or mud color). The lab comes in two different styles, English and American. English tends to have a fatter head and an American has a longer snout. The lab has mediam hair length and shed alot. Labs are not the best dog to have for alergies. The tallest for an English lab is about 24 inches to the head for a male and 22 for a female. These dog are great police dogs and are one of the best family dogs. They can be so protective of his family that he would even jump and bite anything that threatens his family. I would recomend this dog to any house with kids and other pets and dogs.

Oh and labrador is where the labrador retriever was originated in Canada.
