Which horse breed is best for hunter shows?

For show jumping anybreed can be used but for high cup level the horses have been professinaly breed eg. holsteiner or warmbloods but lots of horses that jump are TB's they are an overall a good non expenisve (eg. under 5k if off the track) horse

More than any breed, hunters are more a type. In today's hunter showrings the judges like to see a tall, pretty mover. And most judges at open hunters shows usually like solid colored coat patterns. Paints, Pintos and Appaloosas may not do as well. The horse's form over fences will also weigh heavily in your final score. Hunters must be calm with an even speed and style of the jumps. As he jumps he should have a rounded topline and it is important that he tucks his knees tight and evenly as he goes over the top rail. Sloppy jumpers won't do well in hunters. There are a lot of Thoroughbreds and Thoroughbred crosses in the hunter rings. Some Thoroughbreds can be a little "hot" or highstrung for the hunter classes. There are also many Warmbloods. These may be a calmer ride that a full Thoroughbred. In hunter classes remember that your horse is only half of the picture. The rider's skill and form will either help or hurt the overall picture.
