This question is actually asking what effects still remain today. Slavery is an issue that creates animosity between many people. The equal rights, Black Power, and desegregation movements are all products from this idea. The concept of glass ceiling, walls, and escalator (a concept where one person cannot move forward, upward, or even sideways in his or her career due to a racial issue) are other effects from slavery. Even continuing education (or lack of) for those in low income families can be seen as an effect from slavery because this prevents another person from moving forward in life. This is just a little of how slavery has influenced Black and White evolution in America. Add to this a situation where an under class that is easily distinguishable, and one that you don't have to maintain as the result of ownership and you end up with a pretty palatable industrial relationship that will keep labor costs low. The danger in this is that the weather middle class forgets what it to do an honest days work and it all ends up getting done in even lower paid areas like Asia and china. YAY! Its a jackle! jackle i think its a jackle! jackle! its a jackle! is it a jackle!? JACKLE! TIME!
