normally its for comfort or warmth. cats let off a lot of body heat so when it gets cold they often huddle closer to each other to keep warm. also if your cats get on with each other then they probably just like each other's company.
yes, not as much as cats, but yes, dogs love to sleep.
People like cats because they are not as annoying as dogs are. Dogs bark at anything and everything, while cats just lay around and sleep all day. Cats are more peaceful than their canine counterparts.

a lot of dogs, and cats. and it is our job to stop that.
It depends. Some big cats sleep a lot and other types don't. Animals usually need ten hours of sleep. Hamsters need up to 13 hours of sleep.
It's more about the fact that the dogs can trust the cats and the cats trust the dogs. When this happens, both parties are very calm around each other to the point where they don't feel the need to react negatively, and are comfortable enough to sleep with each other, or the cats sleep on top of the dogs. Cats won't go near a dog if they don't trust them or suspects that the dog will not be nice to them. Dogs won't go near cats if they don't trust them. But if either parties are not like this, then they have nothing to worry about.
A lot more people are allergic to cats than dogs ( I think twice as many).
Dogs tend to have more energy and a larger appetite, cats are more lazy and sleep a lot, therefore dogs will more than likely eat more.
Yes, baby cats, also known as kittens, sleep more than adult cats. Kittens can sleep up to 20 hours a day, while adult cats typically sleep around 12-16 hours a day.
they can sleep where you can sleep, unless you sleep on a bed of nails or fire or anything like that.
