Male deer have antlers to fight other males for mates etc.. Female reindeer, (acturally caribou), also have antlers. Like other deer, antlers are shed in early winter, with the exception of pregnant caribou cows. Since caribou dig down in the snow (called cratering) to get at lichen, pregnant caribou cows can use their antlers to defend against other caribou who may try to kick them out of their crater, which ultimately helps pregnant cows conserve energy.

Of course, they would need a male to repreduce, so they have to have at least 1 male, or they would die out. female reindeers do no have antlers and they are a doe.male reindeers have antlers
