I do not eat horse meat for the same reason I don't eat dog meat. I consider these animals as pets and partners and it does not seem appropriate to me to eat them. Most Americans do not eat horse meat for the same reason. There is also the issue of the many medications and dewormers that are regularly used on horses that are not to be used on animals intended for slaughter. Most horses are not raised for meat, they are generally collected at auctions and such. Therefore there is no telling what they have ingested. Some cultures do eat horse meat however. Belgium, France, and Japan are some of the known consumers.
