Worms and parasites are usually the number one reason. I would take a fresh sample of your dog's stool to your vet for a fecal flotation test. They will be able to tell quickly and easily if there is an infestation. It can usually be treated with a round of an oral medication. It can be very serious, and you should definitely talk to your vet ASAP. If they see it is not worms or parasites, you will need to take your dog in for a check up right away, as there are lots of other problems/illnesses that rapid weight loss can be a symptom off. One of the most common would by hyperthyroid.
He/she may be getting old and loosing that weight because she is old.
Take her to a vet. Weight lossis not a good sign, if anything healthy animals should gain weight as they age and their metabolism slows down.
If the animal is eating regularly and it is still losing weight, you should probably take it to the veterinarian as it should not be losing weight. Otherwise, it depends on the animal. Most pets, particularly cats and dogs, gain weight when they are fed more cat or dog food.
You should take your dog to the vet right away. Our dog was doing that and we found out she had swallowed something and it was lodged in her intestines. She had to have it surgically removed.
There is no patron saint of losing weight.
just remember if it was an old dog maybe it was in pain eg. arthritis so its out of its misery and its in a better place :)
join a sport. be active. you shouldn't worry about losing weight because you are still growing

Candy is unable to imagine getting rid of his old dog because the dog has been his loyal companion for many years, and their relationship is deeply bonded. The dog represents companionship and loyalty, providing Candy with a sense of purpose and connection. Losing the dog would mean losing a significant source of comfort and companionship for Candy.
