Will rats get along with other rodents?

I wouldn't try it. I had a hamster and a rat and tried to put them together. Now I only have a rat and a empty hamster cage. Rodents only like their own species. Gerbils like gerbils, rats like rats, and so on.

Me too. I had 2 hamsters. My rat got out of its cage and lets just say i had to go to 2 funerals last weekend. See, rats are scavengers and will kill and eat anything so don't try it. I had to put that rat down :( it stopped eating because it liked hamster flesh better than its food.

Of course they can -- just like any breed of dog can. A lot depends on whether or not they are raised together, how and where dogs are introduced to each other, and whether or not the dogs are spayed or neutered (which all pets should be).

I have a 10 year old pit bull and a 3 year old rat terrier that get along wonderfully! The rat has brought my pit's "spunk" back. They play together and sleep together (both inside dogs). The rat sometimes gets on the pit's nerves but my pit bull is so laid back she doesn't do anything about it.

well first they usually have to sniff each other then they will start playing or fighting! So it depends.
