Depends on the amount of actual cocoa in the chocolate, the size of the dog and how much it ate.

Small dog + Dark Chocolate = likely to be trouble

Big dog + Milk Chocolate = likely to be OK

This will depend upon the size of the dog, the amount of chocolate consumed and what kind of chocolate it was. Chocolate has a chemical in it called theobromine that is toxic to dogs. In general, a tiny amount won't cause death, but it's very hard to know what "a tiny amount" would be for any given dog. Also, the darker and more bitter the chocolate, the greater the concentration of theobromine and the less it would take to kill a dog; this is why baker's chocolate tends to be the most dangerous and a Hershey kiss tends to be on the less dangerous end. Both are still bad for dogs, by the way, but the Hershey kiss is less likely to result in death.

NO! Do not ever on any circumstances feed your dog chocolate. It may be a yummy human treat but, it is death in a bar for dogs. The theobromine in it causes sezures and death in any size dog, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.
