Reasons why one should treat others with honesty, respect and consideration at the workplace:

  • Employees and Management must work as a team and sometimes they work very closely together so being honest and respectful makes for a well oiled team and the work one is doing goes much more smoothly.
  • An individual should want to have the characteristics of being honest and respectful to anyone in the workplace whether they dislike one or more employees. Each individual has the right to that respect and honesty.
  • The quote 'do unto others as you would expect them to do unto you' should be burned in your memory.
  • Look at each person where one works and know that each person is an individual; has a private life and sometimes may have more personal problems than one may know and if that person seems a little grouchy or out of sorts still maintain the honest and respect for that person.

No matter how honest and respectful to others one may be there are always some problems in the workplace. Management perhaps could have their favorites and overlook a good employee because of it. One or more employees could be aggressive try to climb the ladder of success in that company and may be dishonest and disrespect; backstabbing or gossiping about untruths regarding another employee. This is something that will happen at least once in an individuals working life. No matter if it affects a good employee they should never dive to the bottom of the barrel along with these types of people (they will get their just dues in time) but be proud that if they are well liked or earned a promotion; received a raise they did it the honest way and with integrity and being respectful of others. That makes for a good character and it will not go unnoticed even if one has to move onto another company to get it.
