Nothing. They are both ways to steal other people's money.
To add some substance to your original question and the rather brash response you have received.
Pyramid schemes are illegal, they basically reward few at the top of a pile (a pyramid) and leave many holding the pot with likely nothing to show other than a garage full of pills or potions that make unlikely claims to give you instant health, wealth or a combination. MLM (Multi Level Marketing)is often confused to be or referenced as 'Pyramid' selling or many other derogatory labels. MLM is actually a very impressive way to get a message, service or product to a mass audience. The likes of Warren Buffet and Donald Trump recognize this and both have ownership of MLM organizations, both fairly successful chaps!
The difference is in MLM that anyone getting involved needs to have the ability of receiving reward for their efforts and growing their business.
Stated simply, someone joining today should have the ability of catching up and over taking someone that brought them into the business. If you truly evaluate an MLM situation as a business opportunity, operating costs, marketing, staff overheads, logistics, payroll etc then you will quickly see that MLM is an extremely powerful model and not one to be fearful of; think of it as a variance of a franchise.
The next thing to evaluate to the product or services, is it something you believe in, can trust and even use yourself?
When is the last time you heard someone say "Hey I just quit my job, dont get me wrong its not my employers they are just wonderful, its because Im not very good"...how about never, instead you hear "Hey I just quit my job because they just dont get it, its a scam etc"
I'm just saying...

Yes, it is. It's a multi-level marketing scheme, and you will not get rich quick, or at all.
It's a scam. When you pay your money to them upfront, you will be introduced to Multi-Level Marketing. There is nothing I can tell you about MLM that you can't find out yourself by googling "Pyramid Scheme". You will not be paying 1/2 price for gas as claimed. You will be alienating family and friends by trying to trick them into this foolish scam. Even assuming you succeed at tricking them, it still won't work. And guess what? Your credit card is still being charged. Membership fees, add ons, upsells, extras, etc. A pity you aren't saving fifty percent on gas, it would have come in handy to help pay all the extras they sock you with.
Not legit :v it a scam
