Marketing training is designed to help marketers learn how to most effectively provide marketing for clients. One of the key things taught in these courses is the 5Ps of marketing. The best marketers create synergy between these 5 Ps. Learning to harness the 5 Ps is critical to long-term marketing success.
ProductProduct in this context refers to either the physical item being presented to consumers to the services being marketed.
PricePrice refers to the optimal pricing. Optimal pricing takes into account both the market itself as well as the potential profit margin.
PromotionPromotion refers to the means used to convey the product to consumers. This is the methods used to connect the potential consumer base with knowledge of the product and its benefits.
PeopleThe term ’people’ refers to the people who will provide the product itself to the consumer. These people define and illustrate the image of the company and product. Personnel who provide products to consumers in a polite and cheerful manner are key to successful marketing overall. The truly best marketing campaign will do little if the people providing the actual products or services leave a negative impression with consumers.
PlacePlace refers to the means and placement of distribution. A terrific product with effective marketing strategies does not get the product into the consumer’s hands. Without efficacious distribution means, the entire marketing approach is moot.
Some people in the industry ask which of the 5 Ps is the most important. The answer is none of them. All of the Ps must work together in harmony. Balancing the 5 Ps can be challenging. One situation may call for more of one P than another. Sometimes the needs of one P overshadow the needs of another, or drive the decisions made regarding another.
Successful marketing training will instill golden rules and tap into a marketer’s instincts. This allows the marketer to apply these principles in a multitude of marketing situations.
