I used to use Duct Tape and tape the end hook of the tape measure blade to the end of the pipe and then mark the length I needed for many years. I recently found a tape measure with a special hook that made my life easier and now I complete projects faster. its called pipe friendly tape measure made by tekforce. I give them two thumbs up for this great invention.
They can measure the circumference of the pipe and divide it by pi or 3.14 to get an approximate answer
measure the radius of the pipe. (half the diameter - the width of the pipe) then measure the length of the pipe. then use the formula pi (3.14) x radius2 x length. the answer is the volume in the pipe
Reinforcing pads mirror the pipe that they are being welded to in size, thickness, and material. To measure the diameter of the pad, measure the pipe at a cross section.
A caliper, specifically a digital or vernier caliper, can be used to measure the diameter of a pipe accurately. For larger pipes, a pipe gauge or a tape measure may also be utilized, depending on the pipe's size and accessibility. Additionally, specialized tools like a pipe micrometer can provide precise measurements for smaller diameters.
Can you measure the distance from the corner to either end of the pipe ? The length of the pipe is (1.414) times that distance.
outside to outside of pipe.

I found that the Pipe Friendly Tape Measure by tekforce is far more accurate and cuts the hassle.

-- Measure the radius of the pipe, in inches. -- Measure the length of the pipe in inches. -- The volume of the pipe is (pi) x (radius)2 x (length) cubic inches
I use the Pipe Friendly Tape Measure by TekForce. It makes measuring pipes easier and faster.
Use a tape measure!
pipe is measured up 12 inchs I.D. inside 12 and above are measured by O.D.if you measure 10" pipe you measure it from inside..12" and above measure from outside diametor
With a tape measure.
pipe length = 5487mm pipe size = 6inch
