• Absolutely! The Bible is the word of God handwritten by men and passed down from generation after generation. There is plenty of proof the Bible is true. The Bible isn't just a myth, it is real history. (His story!)
• It is true for everyone. There are no relative truths. If I'm cold, it is true for everyone everywhere that I am cold. The Bible is true. There are no contradictions, Archaeology has proved it, there is no evidence against it, and it is scientifically accurate. It is God's Word.

• Parts of it are, and parts of it aren't. This is clearly demonstrated by attempts to make a literal translation of the Genesis story. The many holes in it aside, the creation of the earth and the vast changes we can see simply by looking at the geological and the paleontological record could not have occurred in days. Suggestions that science supports the Bible may or may not be true. Certainly science cannot explain creation. Life began somewhere or somehow. Did lightning animate mud or did God cause the lightning to animate mud? Perhaps life began off earth. As to evolution, science and the Bible began to diverge a couple of hundred years ago when the true age of the earth (which is some 4.5 billion years) began to be questioned, as it had been set at a few thousand years up 'til then. The Bible isn't put through the shredder by science, to be sure. And there isn't a lot of science that most Christians can't support. There are a few, the Young Earth Creationists, who have lots of problems with mainstream science and what it says to their version of the Bible.

• Our bodies are too complex for them to just have happened or for us to evolve from apes. My great grandmother is still alive and she has showed me pictures of her grandfather and grandmother, and they are people... not even close to apes. just because our bodies are similar to apes doesn't mean we evolved from them. Everything in the Bible is true, except for most of the parables that Jesus told in the New Testament.

• My answer to the question, "Is the Bible true," is a huge yes. Here is a fact that is true: Julius Caesar died. That is a fact that is truthful. Here are two definitions of "fact:" 1: something that actually exists; reality; truth. 2: a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true. fact is the same thing as truth and truth is the same thing as fact. The next thing that needs to be asked is: In what areas is the Bible contradicting and a poor reference for factual data? I will tell anyone who says that some of the Bibles events didn't happen that they did happen because 1: you cannot give any real evidence that something in the Bible did not happen, 2: Archaeologists are actually uncovering cities from the Bible that everyone previously thought didn't exist. Evolution cannot fit in with the Creation in the Bible. Adam and Eve were created by God, just like everything else in Creation. At the time of Creation the earth did not have all of the diseases and deformities that we have today, and therefore someone could marry their sister without any consequences. Proof of this is King Tut. Anyone who does not believe that Tut actually lived is denying truth and fact. In order to keep the line of kings in the family, the ancient Egyptian kings usually married a close relative. King Tut, like previous kings, married his older sister. There baby was perfectly fine. If King Tut was close enough to Creation to marry his sister, why wouldn't Cain or Seth be able to? Evolution requires death, death to kill off the old unfit species. If theistic evolution is true, then there would have been death before sin and therefore, the Bible would be totally wrong. If the Bible is wrong, there is no reason to believe it. The Bible is right and therefore God did not use theistic evolution.Genesis was not written to explain how the world was created, nor was it to make adherents to tell everyone that humans are above animals. The main goal with Genesis (and the rest of the Bible for that matter) is to point to Christ. it does explain how Creation happened (and so much more), but again its purpose was to point to Christ. Yes we are capable of evil, hence the fact that we have sin and death and decay. The Bible is true, that is a fact. The reason the earth is different now than when it was created is very easy: there was a global flood. There is no proof that the Earth is older than the Bible indicates. Carbon dating and transitional forms are not accurate or valid.

• To me the Bible is not true because I think a person can believe in with their own thoughts and no can tell them what to believe in.

• There are two key questions that are to be determined prior to answering a question like this, are we making a deliniation between fact and truth and if we are making the differentiation between the two are we talking factual or truthful. From a factual standpoint the Bible is a poor reference for factual data. Facts are not necessarily truths. It is a fact that killing every disabled person on Earth would lower health care costs but certainly you would consider that the Truth. Truth is more a philosophical concept. The Bible, as most religious works, tend to have contradictions and unsubstantiated information. Thus from a factual standpoint, is a poor source of facts. This is assuming you are trying to use it as a source of facts. From a Truth standpoint you have to take into account the purpose of the Bible and what it's intended purpose is. As a tool to build Christian Faith the messages it provides are very effective as building and explaining the faith. So in many ways it holds a lot of Truth in it when put into context. The Bible as a tool is to show a person how to live, not to serve as a manual. We often tell children simplistic and often outright incorrect information to convey an accuracy that facts don't necessarily convey. A great example is explaining where babies come from to a 5 year old. Science and religion, despite media attempts, don't really have a big conflict. Creation as is often the campfire media tends to try to fan into something more then it is is a great example. First off, evolution doesn't violate Creation as it is written in the Bible. God creates Adam and Eve and we can take that assumption as possible. Nothing is said about humanity as a whole. The rest of humanity may have just evolved as expected. This in fact would explain Cain and Seth's wives origin. Adam and Eve were explicit creations in contrast to the other humans. The days of creation are never indicated to be consecutive and actually appear to match expected evolutionary order (life originating in water, then moving to land, etc.) It is the second day, not the next day apparently. The point is that omission of information doesn't imply that the information doesn't exist. While addressing omitted data can be difficult for some religions it isn't usually a problem for a faith as a whole. The lack of aliens for instance in the Bible doesn't imply there aren't any. The purpose of Genesis (as an example) isn't to explain how the world was created, it was designed to instil in adherents a sense that humanity is elevated above animals and such have a responsibility to act in a fashion above out animal neighbors. It also explains that despite being at the top of the food chain, we are fallable and capable of acts of evil. It simply puts a frame of reference around the human experience which allows a society and faith to navigate the complexity of human behavior. Is it factually accurate? Nope. It is true? It shaped over 2000 years of human history. The reality is in the results I suppose and, if we are looking at the purpose of it, was a truthful explaination of what we are as creatures in the philisophical aspect.

• Technically it just depends on your point of view on the subject. You can be the smartest scientist in the world and prove everything that the Bible proclaims god did with science but there are also people that are true believers with experiences to prove it. Sheer miracles if you will.
• The bible is a collection of letters our Father had penned to each of us. One has to discern, through study which letters placed into the collection were ordered written by our Father and which ones were placed their by men who were not provided an order or commission from our Father or Christ.

  This is why there is concern over the book of Ester and the Apocrypha, as some of the information contained in these books can not be corroborated in other texts. Take the book of Ester for example, it does not corroborate with Daniel who was at the palace during the time that Ester was supposed to be there, yet Daniel (a prophet) never mentions Ester. There were scribes of the temple during Christ's time and afterword, who attempted to deceive Christians by offering up false works such as this book of Ester.

  Study of biblical text requires more than surface scratching in order to understand what is written and where the multiple witnesses occur. For instance; one can not grasp the meaning of Genesis chapter 1 if they are missing its companion 2nd Peter chapter 2, and Jeremiah 4 (starting at verse 22). People will attempt to fit all occurrences into one earth age (eon) which does not match what is written.

  Further, you must pick a version of biblical text which allows one to accurately find the respective original words in Hebrew, Chaldee, or Greek in which the texts were written. Without this connection the meanings behind what has been translated into English (or any other language) are lost. For instance the word Nation which is used in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 is actually the Greek word Ethnos. Those reading a transliterated version and not a translation version would be lost as their connection to the original Greek word is lost. This would cause people to look for fighting among nations an not fighting among ethnic groups as a sign of the end times.

  In summary, yes the bible is a true book, but one must be warned that it takes some study to discern and rightly divide it as was the order (2 Timothy 2:15-16)

Do you want to know whether The Bible is historically true, scientifically true or spiritually true?

Archaeologists and historians have established that almost nothing in the Bible prior to the period of the Judges is historically true. From that point onwards, the biblical history becomes gradually more aligned with actual events, although scholars say that the Books of Daniel and Esther were written as Jewish novels and only in subsequent centuries began to be regarded as reflecting actual events.

Science and the Book of Genesis do not agree, so to that extent we can say the Bible is not scientifically true. Whether the prophet Elijah literally ascended to heaven in a fiery chariot and whether miracles ever really happened are matters of faith, not science.

Perhaps an unarguable spiritual truth is found in Ecclesiastes 9:5: 'For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten'. If the Bible is literally true and Ecclesiastes is a legitimate book of the Bible, this should be a troubling statement for believers.

My opinion: YES!

I believe the bible is a book of historical events put together from peoples diaries to tell us about God and that we should trust and believe in him.If you don't believe in him it is your choice but I feel sorry for you due to the consequences.
