The first six numbers in any card represent the issuer (formerly bank) identification number.
The first number (for a MasterCard, that will be a 5) represents the network on which card transactions are processed.
The next five numbers provide detail about the issuing financial institution. For example:

[5]424 XX represents a Citibank-issued card (Citibank is not limited to 5424)
[5]581 08 represents a Citizens Bank Business Debit card (tied to a checking acct)

The "mean" of a group of numbers is their "average". It doesn't tell you what the numbers are, or even how many numbers there are.
