Why is cesium astatide soluble in water?

Cesium astatide (CsAt) is soluble in water due to the ionic nature of the compound. When CsAt is added to water, the cesium and astatine ions dissociate and interact with the water molecules through ion-dipole interactions, allowing the compound to dissolve. This results in the formation of a stable solution.

Preliminary Examination (Prelims)?

Objective-type test covering General Studies & CSAT.

Will caesium astatide be soluble in water?

Yes, cesium astatide (CsAt) is expected to be soluble in water due to the high solubility of alkali metal halides in general. Alkali metal halides like cesium chloride are known to be highly soluble in water, and given the similar nature of astatide ion to halide ions, CsAt is likely to exhibit similar solubility properties.

Is caesium astatide soluble?

Very probable yes, as the other alkali halides.

Paper II and IFoS eligibility: two things Mathematics Optional aspirants get wrong every year?

Hi everyone, While preparing for the UPSC Civil Services exam with Mathematics Optional, I realized that many aspirants underestimate the UPSC CSAT syllabus because it's only a qualifying paper. After solving previous years' papers, I found that Paper II is more about speed, comprehension, reasoning, and time management than advanced mathematics. I also discovered that although the Preliminary Examination is common for both CSE and IFoS, the Indian Forest Service qualification is different. IFoS requires a bachelor's degree in eligible subjects like Mathematics, Agriculture, Forestry, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, or Geology, along with prescribed medical and physical standards. During my research, I came across INSTITUTE OF MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES, which focuses on Mathematics Optional and also provides guidance for the CSAT syllabus for UPSC. I'm considering their program and would love to hear genuine feedback from anyone who has studied there. For those who have already cleared Prelims: Which section of the UPSC CSAT syllabus is the most challenging? Did starting CSAT preparation early make a noticeable difference? Is there anything about Indian Forest Service qualification that beginners often overlook? Looking forward to your suggestions and experiences! ims4maths
