What is psalm 5?

1 For the Leader; upon the Nehiloth, a Psalm of David.

2 Listen to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.

3 Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for I pray to You.

4 O Lord, in the morning You shall hear my voice; in the morning I will arrange my prayer unto You, and will look forward (to Your help).

5 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; evil shall not dwell with You.

6 Those who boast will not endure in Your presence; You despise all doers of iniquity.

7 You destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the man of blood and of deceit.

8 But as for me, in the abundance of Thy lovingkindness I will come into Your house; I will bow down toward Your holy Temple in the fear of You.

9 O Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of those who lie in ambush for me; make Your way clear for me.

10 For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their innards are a yawning gulf, their throat is an open sepulcher; they speak smoothly (deceitfully).

11 Hold them guilty, O God, let them fall by their own counsels; cast them down in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against You.

12 Thus shall all those that take refuge in You rejoice, they shall shout for joy, and You shall shelter them; let also those who love Your name exult in You.

13 For You bless the righteous; O Lord, You encompass him with favor as with a shield.

In this Psalm (which I've rendered without the "thee" and "thou"), King David is asking God to accept his prayer for deliverance from his treacherous enemies who sought to overcome him through slander.
