What is the percentage of the Bible from the Old Testament and what percentage is from the New Testament?

First, the term 'testament' was only first coined in the 2nd Century AD. It is actually the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The Old Covenant is commonly referred to as the Hebrew Bible/Scriptures. In the Old there are currently 39 books while in the New there are 27. So by books, the Old is greater with approximately 60% of the written word.

One must realize that God did not give mankind 2 separate Bibles. Rather the Bible is one continuous inspired set of teachings and instructions.

The Apostles quoted from the Old Covenant 695 times. Depending on which scholar you refer to, the Old Covenant is quoted/alluded to over 4,105 times ((Roger Nicole, The Expositor's Bible Commentary , Zondervan, Grand Rapids, 1979, Vol. I, p. 617). When one considers that the only written Covenant at the time of the Apostles was the Old, we see the importance the Apostle Paul of the Gentiles places on it here:
