The source material in The Bible varies in it's form but it is generally made up of the writings of followers of God. For example, Moses is typically credited as writing most of the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible) so his writings become the source material for those books. Most of the Old Testament would be made up of the writings of Prophets and Kings while most of the new testament is made up of letters to churches. For example, a Jesus follower, Paul wrote letters to churches such as the church in Rome or Corinth and those letters eventually became the source material for the Bible books Romans, and I Corinthians, and II Corinthians.
