No where in The Bible does it mention how long a person will live for; however, Methuselah was the longest living man in the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament, which is part of the Christian/Catholic/Orthodox Holy Bible), having lived for 969 years.

The Bible reports on the ages of people, but does not give a reason for their longevity. Speculating, though, one could presume that people had long lifespans because they lived closer to the generation of Adam (Adam was created without flaws), hence, their DNA had not been corrupted over time with errors once the fall and subsequent corruption entered the picture. A crude analogy would be why the first copy off a master video tape is great, but when you start making copies of copies of copies, errors and distortions enter into the picture and the quality degrades.

Answer:Psalm 90:10 - The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. [NKJV] Answer:

1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

(Proverbs 3:1,2)
