No! It will not work as a purifier works using central fugalforce (spins dirty fuel to the outside). Lubricating oil is heavier so it cant be used. On marine purifiers any dirty fuel is dumped into a sludge tank after the sensor realises there is more than 15 parts per million. If you were to use lubricating oil the sensor will dump all of it as it is too thick.

What is the caloric value of diesel oil?

The higher calorific value of diesel oil is 44,800 kj/kg and 19,300 btu/lb. The lower calorific value of diesel oil is 43,400 kj/kg.

How splash lubrication system work?

In a lathe gearbox it is hard for different lubricating types to lubricate the gearbox so splash lubrication is the easiest way to lubricate it. Splash lubrication is a method of applying lubricant, to parts of a machine, or certain parts of an engine, teeth on the connecting-rod bearing caps are submerged in an oil container when it rotates. When the dippers emerge from the oil container, the oil is splashed onto the cylinders and pistons, lubricating them. This stage is repeated throughout the use of the lathe always properly lubricating the gearbox. Engines are normally lubricated using force feeding lubrication and splash lubrication. The force fed lubrication is used to keep the oil container full whenever the splash lubrication is being used. Normally the oil used in splash lubrication has to have a low viscosity because if the oil is too thick the tooth that dips into the oil container will either pick up a very small amount or pick up none at all.

What is hot tank and cold tank in lubricating system?

A hot tank oil system is one, in which returning oil in not cooled when it comes back to the tank . In a cold tank it is cooled before it reaches the tank. The only difference is the location of the oil cooler whether its downstream or upstream.

What are the elements of a diesel power plant?

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF DIESEL POWER PLANT Fuel Supply System It consists of storage tank, strainers, fuel transfer pump and all day fuel tank. The fuel oil is supplied at the plant site by rail or road. The oil is stored in the storage tank. From the storage tank, oil is pumped to smaller all day tank at daily or short intervals. From this tank, fuel oil is passed through strainers to remove suspended impurities. The clean oil is injected into the engine by fuel injection pump. Air Intake System This system supplies necessary air to the engine for fuel combustion. It consists of pipes for the supply of fresh air to the engine manifold. Filters are provided to remove dust particles from air which may act as abrasive in the engine cylinder. Exhaust System This system leads the engine exhaust gas outside the building and discharges it into atmosphere. A silencer is usually incorporated in the system to reduce the noise level. The exhaust system of a diesel engine performs three functions. First, the exhaust system routes the spent combustion gasses away from the engine, where they are diluted by the atmosphere. This keeps the area around the engine habitable. Second, the exhaust system confines and routes the gases to the turbocharger, if used. Third, the exhaust system allows mufflers to be used to reduce the engine noise. Cooling System The heat released by the burning of fuel in the engine cylinder is partially converted into work. The remainder part of the heat passes through the cylinder wall, piston, rings etc. and may cause damage to system. In order to keep the temperature of the engine parts within the safe operating limits, cooling is provided. The cooling system consists of a water source, pump and cooling towers. The pump circulates water through cylinder and head jacket. The water takes away heat form the engine and it becomes hot. The hot water is cooled by cooling towers and re circulated for cooling. Lubricating System The system minimises the wear of rubbing surfaces of the engine. It comprises of lubricating oil tank, pump, filter and oil cooler. The lubrication oil is drawn from the lubricating oil tank by the pump and is passed through filter to remove impurities .The clean lubrication oil is delivered to the points which require lubrication. The oil coolers incorporated in the system keep the temperature of the oil low. Engine Starting System This is an arrangement to rotate the engine initially, while starting, until firing starts and the unit runs with its own power. Small sets are started manually by handles but for larger units, compressed air is used for starting. In the latter case, air at high pressure is admitted to a few of the cylinders, making them to act as reciprocating air motors to turn over the engine shaft. The fuel is admitted to the remaining cylinders which makes the engine to start under its own power.

How a heavy oil purifier work?

Heavy oil purifiers are essentially centrifuges. Oil will enter a spinning bowl from the top or bottom; as the bowl spins (usually several thousand rpm) sediment, water, etc. will move to the outside. This sludge is referred to as the "heavy" phase. As the heavy phase moves outward, the oil itself stays in the center. Pure oil is called the "light" phase. The point where the two contact each other is called the "interface". The heavy phase and the light phase will discharge from the purifier to their own separate reservoirs or systems. One side note: there are clarifiers, and conditioners. Clarifiers remove ONLY solid contaminants from the oil (not water!), while conditioners will remove BOTH solids and water. Hope this answers your question well enough. If you want to learn more, I would see what information you can find from either Westfalia or Alfa Laval. ~M~

What are the parts of ship's purifier and there function?

All purifiers on a ship function to clean the oil being used by the ship. There are three main types of purifies, heavy oil, diesel oil, and lubricating oil.

What is diesel oil?

"Diesel oil" or "Heavy oil" is another term for diesel fuel. Not to be confused with "engine oil for a diesel engine" which means lubricating oil specially formulated for use in diesel rather than petrol engines.

What is the difference between a diesel generator oil and a diesel engine oil?

What are we actually asking here? Lubricating oil? The generator should come with a note as to what lubricating oil it uses, and different diesel engines in cars and lorries require different grades of oil. Or are we asking about fuel? Generators can be run off Red or Agricultural diesel as there is no Road Fuel Duty to pay.

Can car diesel be used as a heating oil?

It has a very similar viscosity to heating oil but is thinner, It does not have the same lubricating quality as heating oil and will burn out the oil pump prematurely, so not recommended.

Is diesel oil and diesel the same?

Diesel fuel is often referred to as "diesel oil" or "heavy oil". Do not confuse this with "engine oil for a diesel engine" which means "lubricating oil specially formulated for use in diesel engines". My first Ford Fiesta diesel's tax disc said - "Fuel - Heavy Oil". They've now realised that this term is anachronistic, and my latest tax disc reads "Fuel - Diesel". To be pedantic - Diesel fuel is an oil - Petrol is a spirit.

What fluids are used in a backhoe?

The fuel (typically diesel), coolant, hub oil, lubricating grease, transmission fluid, hydraulic oil. If it has an AC system, you could count the AC refrigerant, as well.

Why lubricating oil is used?

Lubricating oil is used to reduce friction between moving parts and to prevent damage due to excess heat. Lubricating oil also carries away sludge preventing the erosion of moving parts.

When was the oil lubricating invented?

It was not invented. In fact the Romans had used it so it is nothing new.
