It depends upon the type, size, weight/capacity and location of the crane.
For example - if you want to disassemble a 30t capacity gantry crane, you can disassemble it with a suitable 50t capacity tyre mounted telescopic boom crane or same capacity crawler crane........
First take the gantry to the suitable location where lifting beam can be rested on some supports, remove the canopy and then remove the wire rope from rope drums and lifting beam by electrically operating the rope drums separately.
Now disconnect the electrical supply and properly support the vertical columns/legs separately, start disassembling from top - like disassemble:
1) electrical panels
2) rope drum, motor, gears, couplings, supporting frame, platform, railings etc. .....
(complete crab assembly can also lowered by using a heavy crane)
3) operator cabin, ladders
4) vertical columns/legs
5) finally the rail bogies .............
