Cutting tool and Harbouring of a shaper machine?

sir, i want the pictures of cutting tools used in shaper machine tool.

How do the gear levers of a lathe machine function?

The gear levers of a lathe machine control the speed and direction of the spindle and the feed rate of the cutting tool. By shifting these levers, the operator can engage different gear ratios, allowing for adjustments in the rotational speed of the workpiece and the movement of the tool along the material. This flexibility enables precise machining operations suited to various materials and cutting conditions. Proper use of the gear levers ensures efficient and accurate machining results.

What are the accessories and function of a shaper machine?

A shaper machine typically includes accessories such as a vice for securing workpieces, various types of cutting tools (like single-point cutters), tool holders, and feed mechanisms. The primary function of a shaper machine is to produce flat surfaces, grooves, and contours on metal or other materials by using a reciprocating cutting tool. It can also be used for making keyways and slots. The machine operates by moving the cutting tool back and forth across the workpiece, allowing for precise shaping and finishing.

What is the difference between forming and generating?

In generating, the geometry of the workpart is determined by the feed trajectory of the cutting tool. On the other hand in forming, the shape of the part is created by the geometry of the cutting tool.

What will happen if we put your hands in a running machine?

This is very dangerous. Machine tool and the cutting blade does not feel pity for you, no. Does your hand or fingers may hurt you badly or be separated from your body.

Which cutting tool has the highest cutting speed?

How fast lathes, cutting speed can be fast, it has a relationship with the feed amount and diameter.

What is carriage in lathe machine?

carriage is a part of lathe which means to be support cutting tool to give feed to cutting tool and control cutting action.

What is relation between feed and rpm?

The feed rate is the distance the cutting tool moves during one revolution of the machine's spindle. RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) is the speed at which the spindle rotates. Together, the feed rate and RPM determine the cutting speed, which affects the material removal rate, surface finish, and tool life during machining operations.

What is speed and feed?

Speed and feed refer to the parameters used in machining processes, specifically in cutting operations. "Speed" typically denotes the rotational speed of the cutting tool or workpiece, measured in revolutions per minute (RPM), while "feed" indicates the rate at which the tool advances through the material, usually expressed in inches per minute or millimeters per minute. Properly setting these parameters is crucial for achieving optimal cutting performance, tool life, and surface finish. Adjustments depend on factors such as material type, tool geometry, and the specific machining operation.

Affecting factor of tool life in machinability?

The life of tool is affected by many factors such as: cutting speed, depth of cut, chip thickness, tool geometry, material or the cutting fluid and rigidity of machine. Physical and chemical properties of work material influence tool life by affecting form stability and rate of wear of tools. The nose radius tends to affect tool life.1. Cutting speed: Cutting speed has the greatest influence on tool life. As the cutting speed increases the temperature also rises. The heat is more concentrated on the tool than on the work and the hardness of the tool metrix changes so the relative increase in the hardness of the work accelerates the abrasive action. The criterion of the wear is dependent on the cutting speed because the predominant wear may be wear for flank or crater if cutting speed is increased.2. Feed and depth of cut: The tool life is influenced by the feed rate also. With a fine feed the area of chip passing over the tool face is greater than that of coarse feed for a given volume of swarf removal, but to offset this chip will be greater hence the resultant pressure will nullify the advantage.3. Tool Geometry: The tool life is also affected by tool geometry. A tool with large rake angle becomes weak as a large rake reduces the tool cross-section and the amount of metal to absorb the heat.4. Tool material: Physical and chemical properties of work material influence tool life by affecting form stability and rate of wear of tool.5. Cutting fluid: It reduces the coefficient of friction at the chip tool interface and increases tool life.

What is the difference between cutting speed and feed?

Cutting Speed :- Rate at which point on work circumference travels past cutting tool.It always express in feet/min.and if it is too high cutting tool breaks down rapidly and if too slow low production rate occurs. Feed :- The distance that cutting tool advances along the length of work piece for every revolution of the spindle.

What is the difference between cutting speed feed rate depth of cut?

Feed of a cutting tool in the lathe is the distance of the tool advances for each revolution of the work. The depth of cut is the perpendicular distance measured from the machined surface to the uncut surface of the work piece.

What is the most important factors that affecting the efficiency of milling operation?

The efficiency of a milling operation is primarily influenced by the choice of cutting tools, the speed and feed rates, and the material properties of the workpiece. Tool geometry and material affect cutting performance and wear, while optimal speed and feed rates maximize productivity and minimize defects. Additionally, factors such as coolant usage and machine rigidity play crucial roles in maintaining precision and extending tool life. Properly managing these variables can significantly enhance overall milling efficiency.

Average cutting speed of stainless steel in lathe machine?

Obviously it would depend on the stainless grade because stainless is an alloy, so the speed rate would differ slightly depending on your grade. The most important factor would be the type of cutter you use, if you are using Carbide cutting tools, with sufficient coolant you can run it at about 90-110 m/p/m (90 to 100 meters per minute) If you using high speed steel cutters run it no more than about 30m/p/m. My best advice to you is to ask for the manufactures recommendations they will give you a limit to work in, always start between lowest and middle of manufactures speed recomendations and then work your way up in speed if necessary. If your speed is correct you get a better finish and longer toolife. Remember that if you run tools at higher speeds you decrease their life, the time taken to cut the material is determined by the feed-rate and not the speed, even on a lathe which has feed set to federate per revolution will only differ slightly. Hope this helps…
