I am not sure but I would assume two things about joint design and its effect on the weld and visa versa: penetration and overall strength of the weld would depend greatly on what grove you are welding in or on and the amount of distortion would vary greatly depending on how large of root opening and weld size etc.

What is a weld symbol?

A weld symbol is the shape drawn on a Print to tell the welder: how to prepare a welding joint, what process can be used to weld (mig, tig, arc, etc) what filler rod to use, how wide and long the weld should be, how to deal with the weld after your done (grind flush, brush clean, or nothing) and a million other things.... Its a tool that design engineers use to communicate what the weld needs to be to meet their design specifications.

What is a Autogenous weld joint?

It is a weld made by melting the edges of the materials to be joined, but adding no filler metal to the weld.

How does a welder utilize technical drawings?

A welder utilizes technical drawings to determine what type of joint he must weld , joint preparation, where on the joint the weld must be placed, the size of the weld, and so on . Certain structures require this specific information , in order to be safe , sound , etc.

What you know about the effect of mechanical behaviour on the ferrous material by friction welding at the tension?

Friction Welding can produce welds that have tensile strengths as strong as the parent material. The design must account for the weld. Sharp edges must not be present near the weld joint.

What are slot welds?

A slot weld is a weld type made in an elongated hole (or "slot") in one of the joint members.

Can you weld titanium and stainless steel?

Short answer: No. Long answer: Welding stainless directly to titanium results in an unusable weld. If you have access to an electron beam welder (they cost millions and they're the size of a house) you can design a joint with a piece of vanadium between the two other metals.
