I am not sure but I would assume two things about joint design and its effect on the weld and visa versa: penetration and overall strength of the weld would depend greatly on what grove you are welding in or on and the amount of distortion would vary greatly depending on how large of root opening and weld size etc.
why is it important only to strike the arc in the weld joint
A weld symbol is the shape drawn on a Print to tell the welder: how to prepare a welding joint, what process can be used to weld (mig, tig, arc, etc) what filler rod to use, how wide and long the weld should be, how to deal with the weld after your done (grind flush, brush clean, or nothing) and a million other things.... Its a tool that design engineers use to communicate what the weld needs to be to meet their design specifications.
In welding, the ratio of the strength of a joint to the strength of the base metal expressed in percent.----
When a welder makes a small weld bead to "tack" a joint together so it will not move. This makes it easier to weld a joint without having to clamp it.Tack welding is when a welder makes a small bead to "tack" the metal into place for the final welding.
TKY weld joints are tubular joints used for welding. They are expressly used for when fabrication of a structure is necessary.
The amount of weld on a pipe can vary significantly based on the application, pipe diameter, and welding process used. Typically, the weld length is determined by the joint design and the specifications of the project. For example, a full penetration butt weld may require a continuous weld along the joint, while a fillet weld may only need to cover a portion of the joint. Always refer to project specifications or standards for precise requirements.

A hot pass is a technique used in welding to maintain the temperature of a weld joint, ensuring proper fusion and penetration. It involves making a preliminary weld pass on a joint before the final welding passes are completed. This helps prevent issues such as cracking or distortion and improves the overall quality and strength of the weld. Additionally, it can aid in removing impurities and preparing the surface for subsequent weld layers.
When a flanged corner joint is specified, the other side of the edge weld symbol is often a groove weld symbol. This indicates that a groove weld is required on the opposite side of the joint to ensure proper joint strength and integrity. The combination of both weld types helps to achieve a robust connection in the assembly.
A partial penetration joint is a type of weld joint where the weld does not fully penetrate through the thickness of the materials being joined. This results in the weld metal being only partially through the joint rather than completely through. It is often used when full penetration is not required for the application.
It is a weld made by melting the edges of the materials to be joined, but adding no filler metal to the weld.
Threading joint, weld joint, Flanges joint
joint can be defined as two metals pieces come togather, this can be inform of flat. while in weld the joint is made by fuse both pieces togather
probably a weld.
Depends on applicants expertise. If you are a welder, tell them what welding processes you knew, then what welding joint design you can weld and the welding position you can perform.
A welder utilizes technical drawings to determine what type of joint he must weld , joint preparation, where on the joint the weld must be placed, the size of the weld, and so on . Certain structures require this specific information , in order to be safe , sound , etc.
