The issue is that diesel engines, while they produce a whole lot of torque, cannot rev nearly as high as comparable gasoline engines. And since:

horsepower = (torque*engine speed) / 5252

If your engine won't rev past 3000 rpm, you'll always have less peak horsepower than torque. As for why they can't rev higher, they're limited by either the burn rate of the fuel per ignition stroke, the mechanical limitations due to the longer piston rods/crank lobes, or both.

What is the function of an EDC for CRDI?

The EDC or electronic diesel control system monitors and controls the rate of fuel injected into the CRDi in late model diesel engines. It makes diesel engines operate more efficiently.

Why diesel engines not suitable for 2 wheelers?

As you know, the piston in the Diesel engine compresses the air in the cylinder so that it gets extremely hot. Fuel is then injected directly into the cylinder where it ignites and causes the power stroke. Because the Diesel engine operates at very high compression ratios it has to be very strong, and therefore heavy. The injector that squirts fuel into the cylinder has to be both strong and very precise in order to force a precise amount of fuel into the cylinder. For these reasons, Diesel engines tend to be heavier than petrol engines, and more expensive because of the very precise engineering required in manufacturing the injectors. So they are not practical for fairly inexpensive 2 wheel vehicles.

Should you reduce the recommended torque on a fastener when using Locktite?

No. The recommended torque has more to do with how much force the fastener exerts than preventing it from coming out.

Why did Cessna not make the 325hp engines on their 402c counter rotating?

not sure, counter rotating propeelers is extra weight and engineering complexity (more to fail) and costs more

2 stroke vs 4 stroke?

On a 2 stroke engine, each cylinder fires every time the piston comes up. On a 4 stroke engine, the cylinder only fires every OTHER time the piston comes up. 4 stroke engines have 4 strokes: Intake, compression, power, and exhaust. 2 stroke engines complete these cycles in only two strokes of the piston by use of ports in the cylinder walls. 2 stroke engines usually produce more power for a given weight/size. But, in gasoline engines, 2 stroke engines are typically less efficient (use more gas) and have much higher pollution levels (note: some newer "direct injection" 2 stroke engines do much better on pollution levels than the typical 2 stroke)

Which is more powerful petrol or diesel engine?

Normally Diesel engines produce more torque than gasoline engines but less horsepower. Gasoline engines rev up quicker and produce higher horsepower at higher rpms. Diesel engines develop their higher torque at lower rpms which allows a diesel to carry a heavier load.

What is relation between power and RPM?

Horsepower is calculated from RPM and torque. The higher the RPM you can sustain an engines torque at, the higher the Horsepower. Horsepower and Torque are always the same amount at 5250 RPM with all but diesel powered engines. Also the more rotational mass you can spin at a higher rpm, the more energy it poseses.

Which one having high torque petrol or diesel engines?

Diesel engines have much more torque at low rpm.

Why do diesel engines have more torque than gas engines?

Engines with longer piston stroke, higher turbo boost pressures, and diesel fuel has more energy in it than gasoline.

Why diesel engines are used in trucks?

Diesel produces high levels of torque at lower RPMs, making it much more ideal for pulling heavy loads.

What is the difference between petrol and diesel engines?

diesel engines doesn't use spark plug but uses heater plug.petrol engines produces more torque than petrol engines but petrol engines produces more acceleration than diesel engines.petrol engine is faster to be heated than diesel engine.

Is a 350 engine the best engine you can have in a truck?

the best is a 350 because it has 175 horsepowerwhoever wrote that is wrong on 2 accounts.1) a 350 has more then 175, usually 275+. most truck 350 engines have almost 4002) A diesel engine is the best motor for any truck. trucks need torque to pull with and diesel make more torque then gasoline engines. If you used 2 trucks one gasoline powered one with 300hp and 350ftlb of torque and the other with a diesel that makes 250hp and 600ftlb of torque. Even though the diesel has less horsepower and weighs more all the torque it makes for the same displacement makes it better at towing. The diesel will also make that torque at a lower rpm.

Why all powerfull engines are of diesel you know 1 answer is its economical other option?

First off diesel fuel has a higher energy density than gasoline. Unlike a gasoline engine that uses spark plugs to ignite the fuel the diesel has no spark plugs and the fuel is ignited by heat through high compression. This is the reason a diesel is more powerful than a gas engine. High compression, and high temperature at combustion equals more power or torque as it is called. Diesels engines develop more torque or pulling power than gas engines but gas engines develop more horsepower. So simply put, if you want pulling power you need a diesel.

Are Diesel engines more economic than Gasoline engines?

They put out more torque per cubic inch, and certain ones can get better miles per gallon, but the fuel is also more expensive. Modern diesel engines are more efficient than their gasoline counterparts.

Why are diesel engines found in heavy duty equipment?

Diesel engines have far more torque or pulling power than gasoline engines. Diesel engines also last much longer than gas engines because they are built to a much higher standard of durability. The downside to a diesel is that they cost more to produce. But for heavy equipment they are necessary and a diesel engine can easily last over 1 million miles.

Does a diesel have more power than a gas motor?

A diesel has more power and torque at lower revs. Petrol engines need higher speed to develop power.

Why do many cars have diesel engines when petrol gives a better performance?

Some cars have diesel engines because diesel engines give more mileage and diesel is cheaper than gasoline in some countries. In the UK diesel fuel costs more than gas but, because diesel engines give much better mileage (miles per gallon), people are still happy to pay more for the diesel fuel if they run diesel vehicles. Diesel engines last much longer and have much better torque at low revs than a petrol engine.
