Mechanical advantage is defined as the input force divided by the output force. If both ramps have the same final height, the longer one will generally have the greater mechanical advantage because it requires less overall work from the cyclist to raise the bicycle to a higher potential energy in a uniform gravitational field.

The limit to this exists where the ramp becomes so long that it actually takes more energy to traverse than the short since you must account for the work required to maintain forward motion against friction and the climb against gravity. This limiting distance is related to the final height of the ramp.

Which is better computer engineering or mechanical engineering?

Neither, that is a matter of opinion. Various people will give you various answers. If you look at numbers, at least near where I live, there are many more mechanical engineers than computer engineers, so you could say that mechanical engineering is more popular. But you cannot say which is better without more detail, in example: better salary, or better job opportunities.

What are 4 disadvantages for mechanical energy?

foosil fuels are better acids and aslkalis..................... (thats all i got!)

What is difference between crca and hrca?

CRCA: Cold rolled close annealed, the sheet is rolled below the recrystalization temaparature of the steel, this type of sheets will have close tolerance, good finish and better mechanical strength HRCA: Hot rolled and close annealed, here the steel is rolled above the recrystalization temparature, this type of sheets have coarse finish, rough surfaces and less mechanical strength compared to CRCA

Which are best courses after diploma in mechanical engineering?

There are so many opportunities for higher studies after diploma in mech. You can join various mechanical oriented B.tech courses like.... B.Tech Mechanical B.Tech Automobile engineering B.Tech Mechatronics B.Tech Plastic engineering B.Tech Aeronautical engineering B.Tech Marine engineering AME Aircraft Maintainence Engineering If you want to do any short term courses there are so many options.. These are all 1 year courses listed below: CNC training CAD Training(autocad,proe,catian).... Some colleges offer B.tech lateral entry 2nd year for diploma students. My opinion is better to continue ur studies from 2nd year....

Why vacuum is created in condenser on steam turbine?

Firstly, vacuum is being created in turbine exhaust and condenser rather than being required. It is created to reduce the back-pressures and to improve the turbine efficiency. Also, with vacuum the designers can design large size last stage blades of LP turbine for maximizing the turbine output.

What do levers have to do with mouse trap cars?

Levers are a big deal when it comes to Mouse Trap Cars, levers help make the mechanical advantage and ideal mechanical advantage higher and better.

Where do you place the fulcrum to get the most lifting power from a simple lever?

A lever's mechanical advantage is the ratio of the effort arm to the load arm. The shorter the load arm, the greater the lifting power, so the closer the fulcrum is to the object being lifted, the better.

Which is better a incline plane or pulley?

A single pulley simply changes the direction of the force. A block and tackle or multiple pulleys can offer a mechanical advantage - same as an inclined plane. For the same mechanical advantage, a pulley system may be better because of lower friction.

Why will decreasing the radius of the axle improve the mechanical advantage of a wheel and axle?

it's a mechanical advantage of 1 (meaning no mechanical advantage). This is because no matter how much easier it is to spin a the wheel rather than the axle, its a longer distance of effort force and vice versa. * * * * * True, but that is not what mechanical advantage is! Mechanical advantage IS the trade off between the force required and the distance travelled. You can find the ideal mechanical advantage of a wheel and axle by dividing the radius of the wheel by the radius of the axle. * * * * * Better. But I think it could be either of the two reciprocal ratios of the radii, depending on whether the wheel/axle is being used in a 2nd class or 3rd class lever configuration ... i.e., are you cranking the wheel in order to turn the axle, as in a winch, or spinning the axle in order to turn the wheel, as in a motor-vehicle ?

The mechanical advantage is a number that tells you how many times a machine multiplies the effort used?

A machine's mechanical advantage is the number of times a machine multiplies the amount of work force you apply.

Will a wide wingspan have a better advantage over long wingspan?

It depends. Long narrow wings on planes and birds have an advantage for long distance flight where maneuverability is not a big issue. Shorter broad wings on planes or birds provide an advantage for making quicky rolls and turns, where maneuverability is the advantage.

Which is better bike or scooter?

Bicycle.

Which would increase mechanical advantage?

A mechanical advantage greater than one means you can perform more work than the effort you expend. The mechanical advantage gives you more capability. A mechanical advantage of only 1 means you really do not have any advantage.

Actual mechanical advantage is always better then theoretical MA why?

"Better" is an interesting word. I would guess that theoretical MA beats actual MA any day of the week. Some energy is lost in friction.

What is an advantage that alloys might have or many pure metals?
