The date of conception can't actually be determined, but the fetal growth usually reflects how far along the mother to be is , so i believe an ultrasound is pretty accurate.

It depends when in the pregnancy it is done. The earlier in pregnancy the more accurate it is. So at 7 weeks it is only going to be inaccurate by 3 or 4 days.

If you have your first U/s at 8 months it is not nearly as accurate as babies vary so much in size.

Yes, the ultra sound measures the head and a forearm. Depending on the size is how they come up wth your conception date and due date. Your due date is typically 2 weeks before or even 2 weeks after.

on a side note when I had mine done at 29 weeks they told me my first day of my last period was a month after! As if they'd know! This gave me a diffenrt estimate on both ends, putting me at 4 weeks off either way. we'll see......

It depends on when you have the ultrasound. That's a pretty big window to be off by since the due date is based not only on the size of the fetus but also on the timeline of development. If you have reason to believe that your date of conception has been pinpointed wrong, for example you know that you were only sexually active on a certain date within a 2 month time frame around the time of conception, then you should bring this up with your doctor so they can do further tests and make sure nothing is wrong with the baby. Before you do this though make sure that you are doing you math right. Your due date is figured by adding 40 weeks (280 days) to the date of the 1st day of your last period. I'll use my case as an example: My last period began on Feb 8th. this is considered day 1. Two weeks later was ovulation and conception on Feb 22nd (dead certain in my case as we were planning this) by this point the doctor already considers you to be 2 weeks pregnant. My due date is Nov 15th, which is 40 weeks after my period started on Feb 8th, and 38 weeks after conception on Feb 22nd. If your doctor is telling you that you are so many weeks pregnant and you are counting back and thinking I know I didn't have sex then make sure that you're taking into account that the baby was actually conceived at the beginning of week 2. if you still think that it's way off bring it up to your doctor and they can do blood tests to measure your hormone levels as well as another ultrasound.

I'm wondering the something… I missed my period in January and February but in April the ultrasound said I was 9wks 4days. I am so confused, maybe my baby is small, I only had sex Feb 7th and March 13th… I'm not sure, hopefully we'll get our response soon.

Ultra- sound normally isn't wrong. It is the doctor's or nurses who get it wrong normally because the baby is in a awkward place or position and the doctors/nurses cannot tell.

The machine can have malfunction's but everyone would notices it, it can't be wrong on the pictures though because it is literally looking inside someone and you can't be wrong about that

If you got told something that you think is wrong, then it would be the doctor/nurse, they sometimes get it wrong, It's nothing to worry about, as long as the baby is healthy, then everything should be fine.

Doubtful, maybe 10 days at most either way. Four weeks is a big difference in terms of growth, do you think you are 20 weeks then or 12?
