"pink eye" is the name we apply in America to an infection casued by the Hemophilus aegyptius bacterium that attacks the conjuctiva -- the mucous membrane that covers the eye and the inside of the eyelid. As with any infection, tissue damage can occur. And if tissue damage can occur, so can scarring. While not a common result, various degrees of blindness can indeed result. This particular infection is super-contagious, so it's critcally important you (a) treat it and (b) make certain you don't transfer it to others. This means lots and lots of thorough hand washing, not sharing pillows, etc. This one you can't fix at home. There are a few reasons for this. First, bacterial pink-eye is treated with an antibiotic cream or ointment (often Cipro-based, but others work too), which you can't get without a prescription. Another reason is, while I've described Pink Eye, Allergies are sometimes diagnosed as Pink-Eye, and the treatment for them (anti-inflamatories and possibly steroids) may actually exacerbate or make worse a bacterial infection.
Go to a Doctor.
I only know pinkeye on cows.. so here we go: Pinkeye is caused when either dust (possibly flies) ends up in a cows eye. You can tell if your cow has pinkeye if the pupil is white and the eye is surrounded by a pink crust kinda thing. Talk to your vet OR buy some pinkeye stuff. Hope it helped.
Yes it is very contagious !

if you dont clean your cage for a while it can catch a virus whitch is pinkeye
* "If the pinkeye is caused by a virus, the person can usually return to day care, school, or work when symptoms begin to improve, typically in 3 to 5 days. Medicines are not usually used to treat viral pinkeye, so it is important to prevent the spread of the infection. Pinkeye caused by a herpes virus, which is rare, can be treated with an antiviral medicine. Home treatment of viral pinkeye symptoms can help you feel more comfortable while the infection goes away. * If the pinkeye is caused by bacteria, the person can usually return to day care, school, or work 24 hours after an antibiotic has been started if symptoms have improved. Prescription antibiotic treatment usually kills the bacteria that cause pinkeye." http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/tc/pinkeye-topic-overview Here u go
