It sounds as though you might have a hematoma inside your tongue where you have bitten through a blood vessel. As long as you can breath and eat, and it is not getting any bigger I would not worry. Sucking an icecube or a popsicle might help it go down. If it gets bigger or you get symptoms of a fever go to the emergency room.
