"The Peabody Development Motor Scales - Second Edition (PDMS-2) is an early childhood motor development program that provides (in one package) both in-depth assessment and training or remediation of gross and fine motor skills. The assessment is composed of six subtests that measure inter-related motor abilities that develop early in life. It is designed to assess the motor skills of children from birth through five years of age. Reliability and validity have been determined empirically. The normative sample consists of 2,003 persons residing in 46 states. The PDMS-2 can be used by occupational therapists, physical therapists, diagnosticians, early intervention specialists, adapted physical education teachers, psychologists, and others who are interested in examining the motor abilities of young children.
Subtests include Reflexes, Stationary, Locomotion, Object Manipulation, Grasping, Visual-Motor Integration. The subtests yield a gross motor quotient, a fine motor quotient, and a total motor quotient."
The Peabody Assessment Form is used to evaluate children's developmental progress in areas such as gross and fine motor skills, language, and social-emotional development. To use it, observe the child in various activities, record their responses and behaviors, and compare them to the developmental milestones outlined in the form. Ensure to engage the child in a comfortable and familiar environment to obtain accurate assessments. Finally, analyze the collected data to inform interventions or support strategies tailored to the child’s needs.

Hand-eye coordination involves the ability to use visual information to guide the movements of the hands. It falls under the category of motor skill development rather than cognitive development, which refers to processes like thinking, memory, and problem-solving. However, improving hand-eye coordination can indirectly support cognitive development by enhancing visual processing and motor skills.
